Goodbye msdatalab, Hello NextGenLakehouse

If you’ve been following my work for a while, you probably know msdatalab.net as the place where I shared articles, tutorials, and resources about data, cloud, and especially Databricks. Over the years, it has helped many of you get started with data engineering, Azure, and the Lakehouse world.

Today, I’m officially announcing that msdatalab is no longer supported or maintained. The content that’s there will stay online for a while, but it won’t receive any new updates, fixes, or fresh articles. Some links, screenshots, or code examples may also become outdated as the ecosystem evolves.

The good news: there is a new home for everything Lakehouse, Databricks, and Unity Catalog.

Meet NextGenLakehouse

From now on, all my new content will live on NextGenLakehouse:
https://www.nextgenlakehouse.com

NextGenLakehouse is built from the ground up to be a much better experience than msdatalab:

  • A clear focus on Databricks Lakehouse, Unity Catalog, Lakeflow, AI/BI, and Delta Lake.
  • Curated guides, production-ready code, and deep-dive tutorials instead of scattered posts.
  • A single place that connects the website, the Substack newsletter, and the YouTube channel, so you never miss new content or updates.

If you’re working with Databricks or thinking about adopting the Lakehouse architecture, this new site is designed for you.

What You Should Do Next

If you have old bookmarks pointing to msdatalab articles, you can keep using them for now, but I recommend:

  • Updating your bookmarks to **https://www.nextgenlakehouse.com**.
  • Exploring the trainings and resources section to see the latest tutorials and materials.
  • Subscribing to the newsletter and YouTube channel linked from the site to stay up to date.

Thank you to everyone who has read, shared, or learned something from msdatalab over the years. The journey continues, but the new chapter is called NextGenLakehouse — and it’s going to be bigger, more focused, and much more helpful for real-world Databricks projects.
